Rise of Voldemort

1970 Voldemort starts openly declaring himself the Dark Lord. Muggles begin to be killed via his Death Eaters and he turns some of them into Inferi. It was around this time the Dark Mark appears in the sky. Voldemort personally kills hundred of wizards between 1970 and 1971.

1971 Lily Evans, James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Severus Snape, and Rabastan Lestrange enter Hogwarts.

1971 the Order of the Phoenix is formed by Albus Dumbledore. Founding members include Moody, the Longbottoms, Dedalus Diggle. Bellatrix Black becomes a Death Eater.

1972 Regulus Black enters Hogwarts.

1971-1975, things are looking bleak. People won’t even speak Voldemort’s name anymore, and everybody is paranoid because of his flagrant use of the Imperius Curse. Voldemort is still gaining followers rapidly, and the Order the Phoenix is basically failing very fast.
