He is quick to laugh and poke fun but can easily get carried away and take a joke or prank too far. It's not out of maliciousness but intent doesn't much help the pranked. It also doesn't help that in Corwin's case telling him to do to others as he would have done to himself does no good at all. For him there is little better than a well-executed prank, even if it has been played on him instead of by him. Being the butt of jokes has never been a problem for him; he laughs along with the rest and congratulates the prankster on a job well done. It is impossible to deny his mischievous nature. Any self-respecting prankster should have a healthy dose of mischief and Corwin certainly delivers on that note. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but his sense of mischief is often stronger than his sense of morals, even common sense really, and he's often toeing the line between benevolent trickster and complete arse. It must be said that Corwin can be quite hypocritical. While he abhors arrogance in others he is more than a little arrogant himself. He sees his own arrogance as a healthy amount of pride, but it doesn't change the fact that his ego is a bit inflated. When faced with others who have large egos there seem to be only two options for Cor: getting on like a house on fire or actually wanting to set someone’s house on fire. If they don’t clash horribly there’s a strong chance for Corwin to turn a blind eye to others’ arrogance but if they don’t get on it can get quite messy. When all is said and done, Corwin is a social creature. He thrives on interacting with others, while long periods of solitude make him prickly and ill-mannered. Large crowds tend to bore him as they offer little opportunity for quality interaction but he loves a good get together. As a young child he was a continuous headache for his parents and a major thorn in his little brother's side. He didn't mean any harm but he was rambunctious and mischievous and that could be exhausting if nothing else. Luckily, somewhere along the line, he developed a modicum of maturity and a nebulous sense of when to stop before he got (deservedly) decked. Usually. When they were little Corwin tried to make his little brother his partner in crime but the younger Lancaster had his head screwed on better and only participated minimally in the less impulsive ideas. Eventually Cor learned to stop trying to rope his brother into his personal brand of nonsense but that just made him all the more extroverted at the Muggle school he and his brother attended before Hogwarts. Even though Erica was sure that her magic would pass to at least one of her boys they were going to have a solid educational basis because she damn well knew Hogwarts was myopic to say the least. The day she knew her eldest would be attending her old magical school was when he was when he made an older neighborhood boy pee himself in front of others for throwing a can at an alley cat. The cat was fine but that boy never seemed to live down the embarrassment of the event and became a bit of a hermit after that. It wasn't until Cor's mother took him aside for a chat about appropriate reactions and keeping ones magic to ones self that it even occurred to him that he might have erred a bit. School Years || Upon arriving at Hogwarts he tried to outwit the Sorting Hat; attempting to have it declare his House to be "Ravyfieruff". The Hat was having none of it, of course so what followed was a very long debate about Slytherin and Gryffindor and when the Hat finally shouted "GRYFFINDOR" for all to hear, it told Corwin that if it never had to touch his head again it would be too soon. Within his first week as a Gryffindor, Cor tried to change all the red and gold in the common room to teal and copper just for fun and instead ended up a lovely shade of teal with metallic copper hair when the spell backfired horribly. He went to classes in spite of his ridiculous appearance and was a little put out when he was forcefully dragged to the nurse to be returned to his proper coloration. Such incidences were commonplace during Corwin's early Hogwarts years, as were pranks and general shenanigans. The older he got the better he got at not getting caught but in general people tended to assume he was behind just about everything. Sometimes they were even right. In spite of this penchant for trouble, Cor was a social sort and managed to acquire an array of friends for himself. He might have been a bit over proud in many respects, but that never got in the way of a good joke or a good time. The only people he ever really didn't get along with were, and still are, the sort of people generally categorized as jocks. In his second year he and most of the Slytherin Quidditch team ended up in an ongoing confrontation. They saw it as recompense for his pranking one of their own and getting off scott-free, while he saw it as the malicious bullying by idiots. Needless to say, they never really resolved matters, but were forced into a state of peace by the staff of Hogwarts. Many points were lost all around but Cor is still proud of the paint trick to this day. Despite the danger of the times in which he lives he refuses to kowtow to fear and is shamelessly himself. His mother worries for him especially as no amount of "please be careful" seems to penetrate his thick skull. And while his priorities aren't necessarily academics he does manage to keep his grades perfectly acceptable. He's still a bit of a menace; a tiger can't change its stripes after all; but he does try to be mindful of the lessons he's learned if only to stay out of trouble better. At the start of this year he gave out papaya flavored oversized grapes that temporarily turned his housemates' tongues different colors as a welcome back gift to any who were willing after he proved that's all they did.
